Get Involved

It’s not always obvious how your organisation can help, below are some ways that others have done before…

But please do feel free to share any ideas you may have, we’re open to working with local businesses and organisations that want to help and who believe in what we are doing.

We’d love to be your charity of the year, any funds raised would allow us to help more young people that year. Providing free bikes for children & young people in care and free workshops for other vulnerable young people.

Or it could be as simple of putting up one of our posters advertising for donated bikes, or sending an email around to your staff asking for unwanted bikes for use in our  young peoples and vulnerable adult projects.

How you can help...

One of the questions we get asked most often is how can we help.

$

Volunteer Programmes

Many organisations now have volunteer programmes allowing their staff to spend some time volunteering in the community each year. We’d be grateful if you considered volunteering with Glos Bike Project.

$

Bike Collection/Bring & Buy Sale

Perhaps your staff could arrange a bike collection (posters & sign up form savailable upon request, a member of our team can come to your site on an agreed date to collect all bikes, staff to drop all bikes off at our stall), set up a Bring & Buy sale to donate funds to help fund things such as a young persons safety equipment for the kids projects, things like lights, locks & helmet, or even things like helping out with marketing & advertising.

$

Loan a bike (up to 3 months)

We also run other projects throughout the year, including offering free bike loans (up to 3 months) for people with mental health problems who want to try using a bike to help them manage their wellbeing, and free bike loans for people who can start work if they can get transport. – For some people, the first few months of starting work are financially tight, so having a free bike loan helps them to save up a little bit of money, to either help them buy a bike, or just to use for essentials.

$

Giving Back to the community

We run other projects too, depending on what the needs in the community are, such as our response to the pandemic, where we donated over £70,000 worth of bikes, both new and refurbished to NHS and Key workers.

$

Refurbish & resell

We also refurbish and sell some of the bikes that are donated, to help us with our running costs.

Any funds raised are reinvested in the projects we run, paying for the spare parts needed for the bikes we pass on.
