The Pedal Eazy Rent Scheme gives Gloucestershire residents the chance to enjoy the freedom, ease, and fun of riding an e‑bike for up to three months. Whether you’re commuting, doing the school run, or simply exploring the countryside, an e‑bike can make everyday travel smoother, healthier, and more sustainable. The scheme is funded by Gloucestershire County Council and delivered by Gloucestershire Bike Project and Transition Stroud.

Who can take part
Anyone aged 21 or over who lives in Gloucestershire and can ride a bike is welcome to join the scheme.
You’ll need:

  • Two forms of photo ID
  • Proof of address
  • Basic cycling ability

How to book your e‑bike

  1. Email info@glosbikes.co.uk to check availability and reserve your e‑bike.
  2. The inbox is manned part‑time, but you can expect a reply within 48 hours during the working week.
  3. Once confirmed, arrange collection and enjoy up to three months of easy, low‑cost cycling.

Rental costs

  • £70 per month
  • Refundable deposit: £100, returned when the bike is brought back in good condition

Try before you buy

All hire fees can be refunded as a bike voucher if you decide to buy a bike or cycling accessories. It’s a great way to test an e‑bike before committing.

By ticking this box, you confirm that you have read and agree to the following Terms & Conditions: Terms & Conditions: To hire an e-bike you must agree to the following conditions: Submission of this application indicates that you agree to all the following terms. You must agree to use the e-bike safely, following all road safety rules. The eBike hire is available to people who are confident that they can ride a bike safely. Soif you do not feel confident cycling, please let us know and we can refer you for some cycle confidence training before hiring the bike. • The e-bike must be collected in person by the named applicant • You must provide 3 current forms of ID, one to be a current official photographic form of ID such as a passport or driving licence and the other 2 to be recent utility bill, council tax bill a bank statement or similar We regret that without these documents the bike hire is not possible, photo copies are not acceptable, the identity documents need to be physically present at the time of the hire. • You accept that you are responsible for the safe return of the e-bike and accessories. • Ideally please add the bike to your household insurance • Bikes on the Pedal Eazy Scheme cannot be used for delivery services such as Deliveroo. They are for personal use only and cannot be used for hire or reward. It is acceptable for the bike to be used to get to and from work. • You are responsible for returning the bike and accessories in the condition in which you hired it; Wear and tear is to be expected and will not incur any additional costs. Any repairs needed or damage caused to the bike through negligence during your hire may lead to charges. • If you need to do any repairs, please do not attempt them yourself. Bikes must be returned to Glos Bike Project for any and all repairs during the hire period • The e-bikes on this scheme are a community asset and we ask that you do everything in your power to prevent them for being stolen or vandalised. Please keep the bike indoors overnight. Bikes must always be locked securely to an immovable object. Staff will demonstrate how to lock the bike as part of the pick up process. • The bikes cannot be left unattended for extended periods of time. If you will not be using the bike for a period of time, please store indoors. If you cannot store indoors and the bike will be left unattended, please return the bike to the scheme for short term storage until you need the bike again. • This hire agreement is between the named applicant and Glos Bike Project only; you may not allow anyone else to use the ebike. • You agree to return the bike on or before the agreed return date, late returns of the e-bike will incur a cost. An overdue fee is charged at £20 per day. This bike must be returned by the hire end date as others will be booked in to collect the bike for their hire, so please arrange to return your bike by the last day of your hire . Late returns will be charged for. Non returns will lead to an invoice for the full cost of the bike and accessories. The cost will be in the region of £2000.00 If for any reason you cannot return the bike to the project and require a collection, this will be charged for. The cost for this is £50.00 You consent to us collecting and processing your personal data (including your name, email address, uploaded photo ID, and proof of address) for the purpose of verifying your identity and administering your e-bike hire. You understand that your data will be securely stored and only used for legal, safety, and operational requirements related to the hire service. Your identification documents are required to prevent fraud, ensure rider accountability, and comply with insurance and legal obligations. Your data will not be shared with third parties except where required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g. insurance claims, law enforcement requests). Your data will be retained only for as long as necessary and then securely deleted. You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at info@glosbikes.co.uk.
