About Glos Bike Project
Our Aims & Values
Passionate about what we do. Professional about how we do it. Proudly Not for Profit.
As well as running Gloss Bikes, the shop, we run a not for profit, social enterprise, Glos Bike Project Profits from the bike shop and are used to support Glos Bike Project. This means the money you spend with us is reinvested in a range of activities that benefit the community. In fact, the project came before the shop, the shop now exists to help build on the social elements of our work.
We create opportunities through bikes; we design, fund and deliver a range of cycling initiatives in the community.
Some of the projects we support and deliver include Free bike building workshops and bike maintenance courses for vulnerable young people, free maintenance workshops for older people, free bikes for kids in care at Christmas and many more projects each year. During lockdown One, we donated 101 bikes, locks, helmets and light sets to NHS, key and essential workers. We have donated bikes to special schools, run training courses for the young people attending special school, delivered free Dr Bike services to over 10,000 people and lots of other projects that help people get on a bike or build skills and confidence.
Donated bikes can be dropped off at our workshop on Commercial Road, near Gloucester Docks, or we can arrange for collection.
